We have a wide variety of activities here at Bryn Derwen as we believe that they are essential to a person’s wellbeing as they give purpose and enjoyment to their day and so help to improve their quality of life. All activities are person centred and so take into account the service users interests, skills, experiences, personalities and medical condition.

We employ a full time Activities Coordinator, an Activities Assistant, and as well as this, all staff are encouraged and supported to participate with the activity programme in order to support the service user to pursue their hobbies and interests.

We enjoy activities such as 1-1 Chats, Group Reading Sessions, Walks around St Asaph, Music Therapy Sessions, Arts and Crafts, Gardening, Baking, Memory Exercises, Armchair Exercises, Sing a longs, Quizzes, Bingo, Board Games, Card Games, Pampering Sessions, Beetle Drives, Multi-Sensory Activities, Pet Therapy Sessions, Reminiscence Sessions, Tea Dances and Church Service.

As well as this Bryn Derwen also provides entertainers on a fortnightly basis and we are also able to offer service users the opportunity for day trips out in our minibus to see the countryside and local attractions.

We are constantly looking for new ways to engage, inspire and stimulate our service users, and so as well as designing new Montessori activities to participate in (such as sorting boxes, doll therapy, and light household chores) and having fun themed day events, we have also invested in creating interactive themed corridors around the Home.

As well as all of this, Bryn Derwen is also a member of Bangor University’s Dementia Supportive Practice Community Network Scheme which enables us to meet different individuals and groups involved in the latest  developments within the dementia community, several of whom we will be collaborating with soon.
